Visa Requirements Based on Nationality

Nationals from all countries in South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Middle East, North America, Central America, and the Caribbean will need visas to travel to Nigeria regardless of the visa category.

Nationals from 17 countries in Africa are exempt from Nigeria visa, while those from 36 other countries will require a valid entry visa.

Visa Type and Category Required:

Business Visa (Single Entry, Short Visit) – F4A

  • Category: Short Visit Visa
  • Subcategory: Business
  • Eligibility: Foreign travelers attending a meeting, conference, seminar, contract negotiation, marketing, sales, procurement of Nigerian goods/services, business trade fairs, and job interviews.
  • Permitted Activities: Participation in the mentioned activities/purposes, single entry only, not permitted for work.
  • Validity: Up to 90 days from the date of issuance.
  • Permitted Visa Channels: Embassy or e-Visa – Obtainable through the eVisa System and Nigerian Consular Missions or Visa Application Centers.

General Steps for Obtaining a Business Visa (Single Entry, Short Visit) – F4A to Nigeria

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages.
  • Booked hotel or other documentary evidence of accommodation.
  • Flight itinerary with a return ticket.
  • Conference registration confirmation (TORG-2024).
  • Certificate of Incorporation (If invited by a company).
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs (35x40mm).
  • Evidence of sufficient funds.
  • Printout of completed Online visa application form.
  • Confirmation of online Visa payment receipt.
  • Confirmation of online Visa acknowledgment slip.
  • Passport data page of the applicant.
  • Letter of invitation from the host company in Nigeria.
  • Letter of introduction from the applicant’s company or organization.
  • Proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination: Yellow fever vaccinations are obligatory for all travellers to Nigeria. Consequently, travellers should ensure that their international health Vaccination Certificates are up to date before departure.
If applying from the US, Holders of non–U.S passports must provide proof of legal residency (photocopy of green card, resident visa, work permit, or necessary visa page).

  • Go to Nigeria Immigration website: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng.
  • Select Entry Visa/Visa Free Zone.
  • Click on Processing Country, select country
  • Click on Start Application
  • You will be directed to https://visa.immigration.gov.ng/
  • You will be asked to provide your personal, passport and travel information. Ensure that all information provided is accurate and matches your travel documents.
You are required to login or authenticate to continue to your application. Please log in with your existing Google email or Yahoo email account, otherwise select the open ID option and create an account for the application process.

Submit the completed visa application form and required documents to the Nigerian embassy or consulate. Click on ‘Submit Application’ button to view ‘Applicant details page’, then print out the entire form

Once the application has been successfully submitted you will be provided with an application ID and reference number. Click on “Proceed to Online Payment”

Pay the applicable visa fee, which may vary depending on your nationality.

Please note that, once applications are submitted, fees paid are not refundable. Payment must be made before application can be processed.

For Payment Outside of Nigeria

If you select a processing country other than Nigeria, your payment will be in US Dollars. You will be re-directed to an approved payment platform to complete your application and make your payment in US Dollars.

At the applicant’s discretion, visa or passport fee can be paid either with a credit/debit card or money order made to: Innovate 1 services LLC/FGN. Using the application ID and reference number, please proceed and make the visa fee payment with your debit or credit card.

If you do not have either a debit or credit card, please purchase a money order of the visa fee and associate the money order to the application id and reference number.

Please note: If you are paying with a money order, you must wait for innovate1 services to send you confirmation that they have received your money order.

Some embassies or consulates may require you to schedule an appointment for visa submission.

Print out your Visa Application Form, Visa Payment Slip and Visa Acknowledgment form. Physical appearance for an interview may be required for first-time applicants. Go with 2 passport sized photographs (35/40mm) with white background with neither head covers nor face covers. Attend a visa interview if required, be prepared to answer questions about your purpose of travel, accommodation, and ties to your home country.

Allow sufficient time for visa processing, typically 2 to 15 working days.

Once approved, collect your visa from the embassy or consulate.

Note: Not all nationalities qualify for all e-Visas and not all types of visas can be obtained through the e-Visa System. F4A – Business – Single Entry Visa is also eligible for Visa on Arrivals/eVisas. Also obtainable through the Nigerian Consular Missions or Visa Application Centers. Under the Nigeria Visa Policy (NVP) 2020, the Electronic Visa allows applicants to expedite the visa process online by applying and uploading requirements electronically. The maximum of 90 day Short Visit e-Visa is subject to pre-approval through an Electronic Travel Authorisation Letter (eTAL) that should be printed out from the system before the arrival of the visa applicant in Nigeria.

  • If applicable to you, after printing out the payment slip/receipt.
  • Verify that you received Email Confirmation.
  • Wait for Approval of your application.
  • Typically takes about 16 to 48 hours
  • If approved, you should receive the eTAL by email.
  • Print out the eTAL and travel to Nigeria.
  • Authorised ports of entry only – Abuja and Lagos Airports

If you are a national of an African country (except ECOWAS-member countries), you have access to the Nigerian Tourist e-Visa program. One is required to apply in advance online for this visa, and you will receive it once you show specific documents at your port of entry.

After completing and submitting your online visa application at the Nigeria Immigration website, you need to send the necessary documents (mentioned below according to the type of visa you’ve applied for) at the visa section of Nigeria High Commission Islamabad. Appearing for an oral interview regardless of whether you have been to Nigeria or not is also mandatory. Do not come for visa interview on your own, the High Commission will decide a date and call you for interview. Visa applicants are also advised to please check public holidays observed in Nigeria and Pakistan on the bottom left of the homepage of this site before coming to the High Commission for visa.
